ThoughtFull

JOAN LOW is the Founder and CEO of ThoughtFull, a digital mental health startup that leverages AI, behavioural science, and evidence-based frameworks to make mental healthcare more affordable and accessible. ThoughtFull’s main offering, ThoughtFullChat, is a subscription- based mobile application that empowers users to engage with their mental health through self- serve tools and daily bite-sized coaching with certified mental health professionals anytime, anywhere.

Prior to founding ThoughtFull, Joan was a banker at J.P. Morgan, Hong Kong, for 6 years managing a portfolio of over USD1.3 billion in assets under supervision. She was part of the pioneering team which built out the Private Bank’s Hedge Fund and Private Equity offerings in Asia and also covered the North Asian region. In her own capacity, she has been active in the impact investment space, a passion that started as early as 2007 when she founded her first purpose-driven startup with Junior Achievement Canada.

As a mental health caregiver herself for the past 20 years, Joan recognised the vast gaps in the traditional mental healthcare system in South East Asia vis-à-vis regions such as North America, Europe, and North Asia, where she spent many years living, studying, and working.

Proactive engagement with ones’ holistic health – physical and mental – is common in some countries, but preventive mental healthcare is not yet universal practice in Asia.

ThoughtFull’s vision is to make mental health as aspirational as physical health and to enrich Asia’s mental wellness landscape with on-the-go, affordable solutions that can be easily integrated into every lifestyle. Powered by evidence-based research, ThoughtFull is driving digital innovation in the preventive mental healthcare space by empowering individuals to proactively engage with their mental health as well as enabling employers to provide accessible preventive mental healthcare to their employees.

Today, Joan leads ThoughtFull as an advocate of mental health, technology for impact, and women in technology.
