Former president of Starbucks Asia Pacific, Emmy Kan was overseeing 15 diverse markets, driving retail growth, operational excellence, and digital innovation in the company’s fastest-growing region. In partnership with regional leaders, she led the growth of the business alongside our social impact and sustainability ambitions to continue to drive meaningful progress for the communities Starbucks serves.
Since joining Starbucks in 2001, Emmy has expanded the brand’s presence in Asia, increasing from around 300 stores in nine markets to over 5,700 stores across 15 markets, and more than 250 partners at the regional Support Center.
An inclusive leader with a proven track record of servant leadership, Emmy strongly commits to leading with humanity, nurturing culture and values, and cultivating the next generation of leaders. In the last two decades, Emmy had taken on numerous roles at Starbucks Asia Pacific, from Senior Financial Analyst to CFO, Chief Customer Officer, Chief Corporate Services Officer to regional president. She was instrumental in fostering learning and innovation culture, establishing robust systems for various functions, further enhancing the organization’s effectiveness. Before joining Starbucks, Emmy started her career in finance management at General Electric.
A trusted mentor and advocate for women’s empowerment in the Asia Pacific region, Emmy was committed to helping women achieve and succeed in leadership roles. Her advocacy has led the region towards reaching equal gender representation at leadership levels and 100 percent gender pay equity across the organization.
Emmy holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Hong Kong. She lives in Hong Kong with her husband and son and enjoys traveling.
